I don’t know, I kind of have a soft spot in my heart for the “First!” commenters. There’s even a long tradition of “First post!” comments at Slashdot, often misspelled.
What really chaps my hide (or sticks in my craw, whichever metaphor you prefer) are people who hang around blogs on certain subjects only to complain about how said subject doesn’t matter and they can’t understand why anyone bothers. It’s like, if that’s true, then go outside and have some fun or something and leave the rest of us alone… but no, you have to be a busy-body trying to ruin everything for everyone else…
Particularly prevalent on political blogs where there’s always people milling about muttering, “the system is broken, you can’t do anything, this is all pointless,” and similar sentiments. OK, so if all is lost, go outside and play or something. Pet a puppy! Have an ice cream cone! Geez
