Test time!
You’re a visitor in the lobby of a building and the security guard tells you to go through the gate. Which way do you enter?
or
(I know, I know - these are pics of subway entrances, but with the heightened security measures in NYC, building entrances are nowhere to be found!)
If you chose the second picture, congratulations! You are one of the only people who won’t get a painful abdominal bruising by trying to get through the turnstile without an ID card. Our building has both - the gate is used for people in wheelchairs or who are using dollies, as well as visitors. There are a lot of visitors to our building, as the company I work for holds seminars. As a public service, I feel the need to point out the following:
A turnstile has arms. A gate has a flat surface. Please be careful when choosing. Thank you.

I know, I’ve been lax
I have some great posts lined up, but I’m too tired to write them out fully.
For your viewing pleasure, this is the website of Practising Law Institute, the company that pays my rent.
Here’s the website for the 4th Street Food Coop, where I am the go-to Finance person.
And here’s the website for Upper Green Side, where I am a board member and the treasurer.
These are what have been taking up my time, even though I’ve been lax in the third one as well (sorry!) I’m still trying to get some Japanese lessons in (via Rosetta Stone - I’m only up to the 2nd lesson) And I hope to be taking classes in the fall to become a pastry chef.
But I got to see Alison Bechdel at Barnes & Noble last week! She signed my book! I was a dork in front of her!
If you like AB’s Dykes To Watch Out For, she’s getting an award at the MoCCA Art Festival on June 23rd. And right after that is Keith Knight, writer of K Chronicles and (th)ink. Two of my favorite comic artists, appearing back to back, for only 8$! If that ain’t a Life’s Little Victory, I don’t know what is.
