Happy Memorial Day

— Posted by Leshka at 4:59 pm

Like many people, I know that Memorial Day is celebrated to remember all American soldiers who have fallen during a war. And, like many people, I conveniently forget that fact to celebrate the unoffical start of summer. In NYC, the weather is certainly summer-like.

This year, I realized that I was looking forward to an extra day off from work, but not remembering what this “holiday” was all about. In America at least, we all forget why we get a day off for most holidays and instead look forward to the sales.

If you do nothing else on Monday, please take a moment to remember all those who have died while in service. It doesn’t matter if you believe in the war in Iraq or think that all military operations are ridiculous. Yes, it’s been passed by a right-wing Congress, but that doesn’t matter. If you’re open-minded, you won’t care about petty politics and consider something bigger than all that. One minute, at 3pm local time on Memorial Day, has been designated a National Moment of Remembrance. Just think of why you’re getting this day to have fun.

Please sign the petition

This website was created to spread information about the 18-year old Iranian girl Nazanin Mahabad Fatehi, who has been sentenced to death by hanging. Nazanin`s “crime” was killing a man who ambushed and tried to rape her. Please take a few moments to read about her case and what you can do to stop the execution and save Nazanin`s life.

I came across this story at Nerve.com. After reading through the website, it seemed to be very strange. I mean, I know this sort of thing happens all the time in many Middle Eastern countries, and that Western countries almost never know about the events. But all the same, websites like this pop up all the time as a joke.

But if it’s a joke, it’s a pretty sick one. I figured that since no one was asking for money and there was a petition to officials at the United Nations, it must be legit.

Physics 101

Two bodies cannot occupy the same place at the same time.

Remember that fact when you’re about to ride my ass trying to get into the subway, or when I’m trying to get out of a car and you decide that’s when you want to enter.

That’s all.

On the Subway!!

I’ve been looking through some classic Sesame Street sketches on YouTube for some information on an upcoming project, and I came across this one. Adam’s been trying to do some work, and I apologize to him for interrupting every two minutes with a new nostalgic video.
